Omega Minus is one of a series of three
paintings I did which revolve around the theme of Nuclear Energy and Sub
Atomic
Particles.
The first observation of the Omega Minus
particle, a representation of which is depicted in the upper right hand
portion
of this painting, occurred at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in 1964.
This
momentous discovery removed any remaining doubts as to the validity of the
Quark
Theory of matter and signaled the birth of a new era of understanding. It
also
provided the initial inspiration for this painting.
