When I acquired this property there was a building on it that was formally a gardening shed. The previous owner had it chock full of all types of heavy duty gardening equipment. Needless to say the building was in great need of repair. I spent three years working on the building, fixing it's structure, and converting it into a studio. During the process of renovation I learned a good deal about the methods of building construction. Of course it's a much greater pleasure to be working in the studio than on it. With the installation of the three windows on the north side the transformation was completed, and a long standing goal of having a good north light was finally realized. A noticeable improvement in the color balance of my paintings has resulted. As an added benefit the windows provide wonderful views out over the gardens.
Tau Rua The Dual Cross of God, and Goddess is taken from an ancient Hawaiian sacred symbol, and is the logo for the Old Road Studios. "The centerpiece is drawn in a very ancient form of writing tau for cross. The rays spreading from the lamp symbolize the flowing of light from God and Goddess to the four directions of this world. The two lines outside the diamond indicate this is the Cross of God and Goddess."
